Wendell   Conner

Wendell Conner, 78, of Savannah, died January 5, 2011 under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc., surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Wendell was born September 27, 1932 in Ailey, Georgia and lived in Savannah for most of his life. He attended McGregor Presbyterian Church in Ailey and after moving to Savannah attended and became a ruling elder at the former Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church. He worked at Union Camp for 43 years prior to his retirement in
1996.

Wendell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sara Coleman Conner of Savannah; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Rene Conner, Springfield GA; daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Madison Alcorn, Savannah GA; daughter and son-in-law, Cherie and Wendell Brown, Guyton, GA; sister, Geraldine Mead, Mt. Vernon, GA; brother, Theron Conner Virginia, Vidalia, GA; 5 grandchildren, Angela Rossiter Jimmy, Savannah, GA;
Jessica Huffman James, Moultrie, GA; Chris Conner Amanda, Statesboro, GA; Colby Conner, Springfield, GA; and Chandler Brown, Guyton, GA; 5 great grandchildren, Taylor and Madison Huffman and James, Andrew, and Benjamin Rossiter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Emma Conner.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2011 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Islands Chapel of Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

Remembrances may be made in his honor to Grace Church of the Islands PCA, P.O. Box 30775 Savannah, Georgia 31410.
